What an Isolation Transformer Actually Does
An isolation transformer separates the primary (input) winding from the secondary (output) winding with no direct electrical connection between them — power is transferred purely through the magnetic field. Copper-wound units generally offer better thermal performance for continuous-duty, sensitive-equipment applications, while aluminium-wound units are a cost-effective option for less demanding loads.
